LSPU joins Phil-Canada HEIs network

The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) is now a part of the Philippines-Canada Network for Sustainability (PCNS) which is a network of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) set to collaborate for sustainability initiatives, Sep. 27.

Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, represented the LSPU during the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) among new member institutions of the PCNS at the New Graduate School Building, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Present at the event were Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., UPLB Chancellor; Hon. David B. Hartman, Ambassador of Canada to the Philippines; Atty. Lilly Freida M. Milla, Director of the CHED-International Affairs Service (IAS); representatives from new member institutions; and selected officials and staff of UPLB.

Formed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the PCNS aims to pioneer sustainability-centered microcredentialing activities toward affordable and accessible upskilling for the 21st century.

The PCNS is a consortium of HEIs in the Philippines that agreed to strengthen their relations through collaborative programs and activities which include capacity building, research engagements, and information exchange, among others.

The ceremonial signing also coincided with the UPLB’s launching of the project MOCHA (Management of Coffee, Honey, and Adlai) and the ribbon-cutting and opening of UPLB’s PCNS office and Dalhousie University’s satellite office. [LSPU Information Office]
