GCU, CAS unite for mental health awareness

The Guidance and Counseling Unit (GCU) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) collaborated to promote mental health awareness among students, faculty, and staff of the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Nov. 29.

In support of the celebration of the university’s 71st founding anniversary, the GCU and CAS conducted the seminar themed “Unity for Life: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers” at the Campus Gymnasium of LSPU-Siniloan Campus (LSPU-SC). 

Niño Lito Jake S. Briones, RGC; Rowena D. Soriano, RGC; and Karen Chris B. Latade, RGC served as the resource speakers of the event for the topics of “Basic Mental Health Skills for All School Personnel,” “Promoting Health Resilience and Equipping with Practical Tools,” and “Who’s Who and What to Do: An Educative Talk on the Signs of Suicidal Behavior and the Movement to Assist,” respectively.

Also delivering their messages for the event were Sedrich John Jewel Amoin, President of the CAS-Student Body Organization; and Jerry Ortega, Guidance Counselor of LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC).

The said event was also made possible in cooperation with the Ka-Peer Yu organization.
