 LSPU is now an ASEAN-FEN associate member

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN) recognized the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) as its associate member during the 12th International Fisheries Symposium (IFS) held at Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan, Nov. 19-22. 

Ms. Precious Dee H. Tolentino, Dean of the LSPU-Los Baños Campus College of Fisheries (COF), presented the university’s research profile as part of its membership application. Following her presentation, the ASEAN-FEN Chairperson, Professor Rs. Dr. Mohd Effendy bin Abd. Wahid, FASc., FAPM, formally conferred LSPU’s associate membership.

With this recognition, LSPU joins an esteemed group of institutions comprising nine universities from the Philippines and 30 universities across Southeast Asia recognized as associate members.

The recognition will be formally awarded to LSPU at the IFS 2025 to be held in Semarang, Indonesia.

ASEAN-FEN is a prestigious university-based consortium aimed at fostering collaboration among institutions in Southeast Asia specializing in fisheries and aquaculture. The network is dedicated to advancing the region's fisheries and aquaculture sectors through education, research, and public outreach initiatives.

LSPU’s membership in ASEAN-FEN will expand its opportunities for research development and promotion, partnerships and collaborations with local and international organizations, and facilitation of exchange programs for students, faculty, and industry experts.###
