Working together for a healthy workplace in LSPU-SPCC Wellness Program

The phrase “all work and no exercise” is no longer heard at the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus, thanks to the launch of the Wellness Program this year.

Starting in February, teaching and non-teaching employees gather every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM to engage in physical activities that improve fitness and productivity.

Employees participate in exercises either at a designated space or within their offices. For the program’s debut, Zumba sessions were held in the conference hall, with participants following an instructional guide displayed on the LED wall.

In addition to Zumba, sports such as volleyball, basketball, and tennis are encouraged as optional physical activities, with access to the campus's sports and development facilities.

The Gender Norm, Health, and Wellness Activity was initiated by the Faculty Association (FA) and Non-Teaching Employees Association (NTEA), with support from the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Gender and Development (GAD), Sports and Cultural Affairs (SCA), and the Office of the Campus Director (OCD).

This program supports the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 38, Series of 2011, on the “Physical and Mental Fitness Program for Government Personnel,” and is being implemented through OCD MO 007, Series of 2025.

This program responds to the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 3: Good Health and Well-being and 5: Gender Equality.
