LSPU, SPC Water District explore internship partnership

The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) and the San Pablo City Water District (SPCWD) conducted a consultation meeting on the proposed partnership on the on-the-job-training (OJT) program, held at the Conference Hall, LSPU-San Pablo City Campus (SPCC), April 3.

According to the SPCWD representatives, the remarkable performance of the OJT students from the LSPU at their agency inspired the formalization of an expanded scope of admitted interns, potentially covering those from the College of Engineering (COE), College of Industrial Technology (CIT), College of Computer Studies (CCS), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) among the campuses of the University.

Atty. Rushid Jay S. Sancon, Chief Administrative Officer for Administration and Campus Director of the LSPU-Los Baños Campus (LBC), presented and went over the draft of the standard memorandum of agreement (MOA) of the LSPU for OJT for the consideration and review of SPCWD.

Efren Dela Paz, Division Manager at SPCWD, headed the exchange of information and dialogue for his agency.

Some of the concerns covered during the meeting include the number of training hours, the nature of the work exposure, the roles and responsibilities of the two parties, and other procedures and protocols to be considered in the preparation and implementation of the OJT program.

Present in the consultation meeting from LSPU were Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvarez, Campus Director of the LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus; A/Prof. Joel M. Bawica, Campus Director of the LSPU-SPCC; Dr. Albert Castillo, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS); Engr. Jonnel K. Pabico, Dean of COE; and Danilo N. Daran, OJT Coordinator.

Meanwhile, delegates of the SPCWD included Mr. Efren Dela Paz, Gilbert M. Velasco, Alvin A. Santiago, Gloria Oyos, Angelique Rose Gatchalian, and Oliver G. Guerra.

The proposed MOA will be reviewed by the respective legal offices of the two parties, subject to their internal protocols for the approval and signing of the agreement.
