The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) through the Gender and Development (GAD) Office observes the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) from Nov. 25 to Dec. 12.
In support of the Proclamation No. 1172 s. 2006 and Republic Act 10398 of 2013, the annual campaign has this year’s theme of “UNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines”.
The four campuses of the LSPU have conducted various programs and campaigns to raise the level of awareness not only of the staff and students of the university but also of the public regarding the continuous campaign of our national government regarding violence against women.
These programs include wearing a VAWC shirt every Wednesday, changing of social media profile frames, hanging banners or tarpaulins around the university vicinity, and distributing leaflets regarding Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004.
Several seminars were also organized such as the MOVE (Men Opposing Violence Everywhere) Seminar with the theme “Breaking Silence: Understanding and Addressing Violence Against Men in Intimate Relationships” which was attended by LSPU-SCC male staff on Nov. 29.
Another VAWC Seminar is scheduled on Dec. 15 with the theme of "Building a Culture of Respect: Safe Spaces for All” for all LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC) employees to conclude the observation of the 18-day campaign.
