The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region IV-A (DSWD IV-A), through the effort of Senator Imee R. Marcos, conducted the distribution of payouts to student-beneficiaries of the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) under the program DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (DSWD-AICS) at the Activity Center of LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC), Nov. 28.
An approximate number of 2,000 indigent students of the four LSPU campuses received the DSWD-AICS amounting in P5,000.00. Sen. Marcos also donated 10 desktop computers to the LSPU Supreme Student Council (SSC).
According to Mr. Robert Narvaez, staff of Sen. Marcos, the senator would like to thank the LSPU under the leadership of University President Mario R. Briones, the chairpersons of the LSPU Scholarship and Financial Assistance (SFA), and the DSWD for bringing out this assistance for the youth and students who are very close to the senator's heart, having started in Kabataang Barangay (KB) which is now known as Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).
Mr. Narvaez also shared the senator’s Cash-for-Work program through the DSWD that provides some LSPU fresh graduates three-month job opportunities where they will receive wages based on their employer’s minimum wage rate.
Sen. Marcos is also set to provide a CHED Tulong Dunong Scholarship program to 150 indigent LSPU students who will receive 7,500.00 per semester to help them finish their studies.
In her video message, the senator also expressed her commitment to continuously providing solutions to the problems and challenges that we are currently facing.
On the other hand, Atty. Karen Agapay, Vice Governor of the Province of Laguna, also thanked the senator for her continued and quick help to the Lagunenses.
Meanwhile, Engr. Beltran Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration and LSPU-SCC OIC Campus Director, conveyed the message and thanks of President Briones to Sen. Imee R. Marcos and the DSWD for helping the LSPU students. He also extended the President’s gratitude for including LSPU in the government’s program to improve the lives of every Filipino and commitment in supporting the government to build a stable and progressive community towards a Bagong Pilipinas.
