COA holds entrance conference 2023 with LSPU
The Commission on Audit (COA) conducted its Entrance Conference 2023 with the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Oct. 10. The conference aimed to provide an overview and guidance on the processes, procedures, requirements, and other pertinent concerns relevant to auditing among the selected LSPU officials and employees attending the event at the Conference Hall, Research Development and Extension (RDE) building at the LSPU-San Pablo City Campus (SPCC). Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration, expressed his gratitude to COA for holding the conference, informing the participants of the focus for the auditing. “[The auditing] will help us [assure that we] have effective and efficient transactions,” he said during his opening remarks. Meanwhile, Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, reminded the LSPU officials and employees of the essence of conducting the auditing, saying, “[the auditing serves as] a reminder of the high standards of accountability and transparency that we uphold in this university.”

Ms. Cindy Faith C. Abordo, SAE II of COA and Audit Team Member, went over the audit objectives which involved the internal control; compliance to existing rules and regulations; writing off of dormant accounts; physical existence of property, plant, and equipment (PPEs); and implementation of programs, among others.

Ms. Candy Angelica B. Borbe, State Auditor III of COA and Audit Team Leader, discussed the audit thrust areas, financial/compliance audits, other mandatory areas, audit periods, offices involved in the auditing, and significant milestones.

Joy Morales, State Auditor III of COA and OSA Staff, was also present in the event along with LSPU employees and officials from administrative units such as accounting, budgeting, cashier, supply, procurement, business affairs, and gender and development, among others.

The program started with the introduction of participants from the two agencies, followed by the opening remarks of Engr. Pedrigal, discussions of Ms. Abordo and Ms. Borbe, and closing remarks of President Briones.
