A total of 168 students from the College of Agriculture (CA) of the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) completed the School-on-the-Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA) training also known as the "Palay-Aralan: Makabagong Pagsasaka sa Himpapawid" of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region IV-A, Oct 20.

LSPU was also awarded for its contribution as a partner agency of the Department of Agriculture (DA) ATI in the conduct of the Palay-Aralan during the graduation ceremony held at the Laguna Provincial Capitol Extension Office, Calamba City, Laguna.

Dr. Marc Sylvester Garcia, Dean of the CA, and Dr. Jayson Olayta, Director for Student Affairs Services (SAS), received the certificate of appreciation on behalf of Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President.

The Palay-Aralan is a two-month program aimed at equipping farmers and irrigator’s associations (IA) about innovative and modern practices on rice farming using the radio as primary education and communication channel.

The 2,516 graduates of the training program came from different local government units (LGUs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), units from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and various organizations in the region.
