LSPU joins Nat'l Earthquake drill 2024

The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) continues to actively support our government in preparing for the possible impact of strong earthquakes in different parts of our country, March 25.

The LSPU, through the University Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (UDRRMO), recently conducted the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake along with other campuses.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the siren sounded which signaled the start of the drill. Students and university personnel executed the “duck, cover, and hold” in the middle of the open field. Various scenarios were also shown to know the possible situations in case of an earthquake.

Included in these scenarios was in case of fire wherein Mr. Erwin Napiza, Director of the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (UDRRM), demonstrated the method of extinguishing a fire using a fire extinguisher.

Some students also had a hands-on experience of putting out the fire as part of the drill.

This activity was made successful through the collaboration of the Red Cross Youth (RCY) and the University Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (UDRRMO) of the university.
