CvSU benchmarks LSPU general services operations

Continuously finding ways of improving its services and systems toward achieving more efficient general services management, the Cavite State University (CvSU) visited the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) to benchmark the university’s general services operations, March 8.

Specifically, CvSU’s Physical Plant Services Unit (CvSU-PPSU) explored the best practices of LSPU’s General Services Office (LSPU-GSO), its counterpart unit.

In his welcome remarks, Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvarez, Campus Director of LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC), warmly welcomed the unit head and staff of CvSU-PPSU. He also shared the change in the LSPU-GSO setup from its previous unit, the Physical Plant and Site Development (PPSD), in line with the implementation of the Revised Organizational Structure and Staffing Standards for SUCs (ROSSS).

Engr. Alvarez explained that the purpose of benchmarking is to learn about the best practices of other universities. He also hoped that the LSPU could get some ideas from CvSU to improve further the service delivery of LSPU-GSO.

Meanwhile, Mr. Danielito Escano, Director of CvSU-PPSU, stated that they chose to benchmark the university to know its expertise, especially in the areas of building repair and maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and motorpool. He also thanked the LSPU for the warm welcome given to them to make their activity productive and meaningful.

Other personnel of CvSU also stated their expectations during the benchmarking. Engr. Leonard Nheil G. Fiscal, Administrative Officer V and Head of the LSPU-GSO, answered these expectations and questions by sharing the background and best practices of their unit.

After the program, the personnel of CvSU-PPSU had the opportunity to visit the areas under the supervision of LSPU-GSO.
