YMCA-Singapore delegates visit LSPU, explore potential partnership

As part of their visit in the Philippines, delegates from the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Singapore went to the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) to know more about the institution and potential areas of collaboration, Jan 11.

One director and three students from Singapore had a dialogue with selected LSPU officials to introduce their organization and lay out their objectives for the visit, one of which is cultural immersion of the delegates with the locals in the country. Joining the visitors were Cristeta D. Sumague, CEO of YMCA-San Pablo City Inc. (SPC), and Ryan Kim Bienvenida.

During the meeting, Dr. Eden C. Callo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, shared that LSPU welcomes potential partnerships aboard to propel the internationalization effort of the university. She also suggested that a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) be forged between the YMCA and LSPU to formalize the partnership on the possible exchange of students and faculty between the concerned parties.

Also present in the dialogue from the LSPU-SPCC were A/Prof. Joel M. Bawica, Campus Director of LSPU-SPCC; Dr. Darwin D. Ofrin, Associate Dean of the College of Industrial Technology (CIT); Dr. Alberto B. Castillo, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS); Dr. Edilberto Z. Andal, Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE); Dr. Desiree L. Wagan, Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA); Dr. Marlon M. Wankey, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE); Dr. Ninevetch Grace O. Marco, Associate Dean of the College of Hospitality Management and Tourism (CHMT); Dr. Julie Fe D. Panoy, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS); and Mr. John Vincent Aliazas, Chairperson for Senior High School (SHS) department.

After the meeting, the delegates toured the campus under the guidance of Dr. Ofrin to have personal understanding of the learning environment in the university.

The dialogue was made possible through the coordination of the YMCA-SPC with the LSPU-SPCC.
