On HR dev't practices:  LSPU conducts non-teaching employee orientation

As part of its best practices for human resource development, the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) conducted a university-wide orientation among newly hired, appointed, and promoted non-teaching employees at the Monte Vista Hotsprings and Conference Resort, Calamba, Laguna, Sep. 7-8, 2023. 

A total of 125 employees participated the two-day event from the four campuses, namely, Sta. Cruz Campus, Siniloan Campus, San Pablo City Campus, and Los Baños Campus. 

Headed by the Administrative Services and the Human Resources Management Offices (HRMO), the orientation entitled “Orientation on Employee Responsibilities, Compensation, and Benefits” went over important topics necessary for all government employees to know such as financial management, benefits and compensations, rewards and recognitions, and decorum, among others. 

Prior leading the oath-taking of the newly hired employees, Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, delivered a short talk on work ethics, reminding the participants of proper decorum and attitude in their delivery of services to the clientele of the university. 

Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvarez, Campus Director of the Los Baños Campus, welcomed the participants in the event, encouraging them to give further their best in performing their duties and responsibilities. Meanwhile, A/Prof. Joel M. Bawica, Campus Director of the San Pablo City, explained that the positions opened for the participants came with the implementation of the Revised Organization Staffing Standards for SUCs (ROSSS) duly approved by the LSPU Board of Regents (BOR). 

The first day covered the topics of the financial management delivered by Ms. Marie Ammabelle I. Cabildo; leave benefits and compensation by Ms. Maria Lirio C. Ragel; rewards and recognition by Mrs. Arla A. Redoña; committee on decorum investigation (CODI), safe space, and sexual harassment by Dr. Ruby B. Brion; rules on administrative cases by Mr. Efren R. Dela Paz; and strategic performance management system by Dr. Adriel G. Roman. Meanwhile, the second day went over the topics of LSPU history and organizational structure by Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal; legal, grievance, data privacy, anti-red tape, and freedom of information (FOI) by Atty. Rushid Jay S. Sancon; and Quality Assurance by Dr. Alberto D. Yazon. 

As part of the workshop, selected representatives from different offices and units presented their outputs on Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR), Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR), and Work Instruction (WI). The said outputs will also serve as resources of the participants in the performance of duties and responsibilities of their respective offices. [Text by LSPU Information Office; Photo by ICTS]
