The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) is set to unveil its official entry in the “Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin: A National Parol Making Contest” of the Office of the President-Social Secretary Office (OP-SOSEC).
The LSPU delegates brought the lantern at the University Hostel of the LSPU-San Pablo City Campus (SPCC) for a preview with Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, and selected administrative officials, Oct 25.
The LSPU delegates who will submit the university’s entry in the contest later in the afternoon are Jericho V. Asinas, Student Regent; Dr. Jayson N. Olayta, Director for Student Affairs and Services (SAS); Christian P. San Luis, Chairperson for SAS at the LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (SCC); Erwin A. Napiza, faculty of the College of Industrial Technology (CIT); and John Alfred Fernandez, student of the College of Teacher Education (CTE).
Fernandez is one of the four student-artists assigned in the creation of the parol with Gabriel Valderrama of CIT, Eunice Dela Cruz of the College of Hospitality Management and Tourism (CHMT), and Trisha Macalagay of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), with the full support of and coordination with the administration.
The LSPU lantern is described as a creative iconography, bringing together the four campuses of the university and highlighting not only their flagships but also the materials endemic in the community.
“This parol is more than just a symbol,” the accompanying description of the entry states. “It is a living narrative of an institution, an integral part of a nation that cherishes time-honored traditions while embracing cutting-edge innovations.”
The LSPU lantern is set to be officially unveiled for online voting by the organizers by the end of this month. A support campaign to heart-react and share the post of the LSPU entry is anticipated among the students and employees of the university.
