LSPU holds first Christmas Village lighting ceremony

The Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) conducted its first Christmas Village lighting ceremony at the university field, Nov. 20.

Hosted by the local campus administration, in collaboration with colleges, student organizations, Gender and Development (GAD), and different units, the program was entitled “Pagbubukas at Pagliliwanag ng Christmas Village” and themed “Paskong ka-Piyu: Saya sa Pagkakaisa Pagkatapos ng Pandemya.”

A fireworks display marked the official lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree headed by Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, and assisted by Dr. Eden C. Callo, Vice President for Academic Affairs; A/Prof. Joel M. Bawica, Campus Director for LSPU-SPCC; Engr. Manuel Luis Alvarez, Campus Director for Los Baños Campus; and selected officials.

The university ground was transformed into a Christmas Village with the nativity displays from all the colleges and the administration.

Prior the lighting ceremony, an afternoon mass and a short program was conducted with messages from Dr. Callo, CD Bawica, and President Briones. Meanwhile, Dr. Ruby Brion, Director for GAD, also delivered a closing message for all the students, faculty, non-teaching staff, and guests who joined the ceremony.

Participants were also provided with snacks to enjoy while visiting the displays in the village.

The Christmas Village will be open to all students and employees of the university to visit during the Christmas season.
