LSPU to establish Research Publication Office and University Journal

As part of its institutional effort to advance quality research, the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) is set to establish its Research Publication Office that will manage the University’s peer-refereed research journal to be known as the Journal of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation Research (JISIR).

Under the Office of the Vice President for Research Development and Extension (OVPRDE), the Research Publication Office primarily aims to create a platform for knowledge dissemination and promote a culture of research excellence in the institution.

JISIR covers research in the areas of natural and mathematical sciences, social and behavioral sciences, business and management, information and computing science, engineering science, and health sciences, the submitted research of which will be reviewed by three to five experts per cluster.

Key features of JISIR include high-quality submissions, peer-reviewed and double-blind review process, inclusive methodological approach, and bi-annual production.

The presentation of the proposed Research Publication Office and JISIR was made by Prof. Francis Balahadia to the LSPU Board of Regents (BOR) during its meeting in March 2024, securing its approval.

The establishment of the Research Publication Office, which was initially recommended by the Board, was made possible through the support of the LSPU administration. Likewise, the committee for the research journal worked together to integrate all the recommendations and observations of the LSPU councils and the governing board.

The Research Publication Office is expected to start its initial operations in the Research and Development Building at the LSPU-San Pablo City Campus in 2024.
