The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) of the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) assessed accredited dormitories and boarding houses with university students in residence, Sep. 17.
OSAS is responsible for visiting and evaluating student housing facilities following the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order 9, s.2013 and the LSPU Student Handbook 2021.
Dr. Alberto B. Castillo, OSAS Director, together with Mr. Demetrio Melvin V. Matulac, Coordinator for Residential and Boarding House Services, personally checked the 12 facilities in Del Remedio, San Pablo City, housing approximately 120 students to check the facilities’ safety, cleanliness, affordability, and conduciveness.
They also took note of the provisions of the internet, CCTV, and other pertinent aspects for safety and security.
The ocular visit was conducted in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Del Remedio, San Pablo City, which has the authority to accredit housing and dormitories within its jurisdiction. The Del Remedio LGU is under the leadership of Hon. Ronaldo D. Reyes, Baranggay Chairman, and Hon. Bayani Magnaye, Baranggay Councilor.
The LSPU OSAS follows a monitoring form for these facilities and is currently working on the proposed guidelines for the provision of in-campus services and accreditation of off-campus housing and residential facilities.
