LSPU-WED Partnerships, Innovative Mark- up to the University Academe

University President, Dr. Nestor M. de Vera explored the new partnership with a multi-disciplinary and prestigious training company to further enhance LSPU students’ personal and professional development for future employment and career advancement. The President of WorldWideLink Educational Development (WED), Mr. Hee Soo Kang through Mr. Joshua Oliver F. Callueng, the Managing Director, introduced the educational training program to LSPU Deans and Associate Deans on February 18, 2015, at LSPU-Santa Cruz Main Campus. The program aimed at providing English Skill Training (EST) to LSPU student s and further prepare them for job-training through Employability Skills Training Program (ESTP).

The EST program aims to enhance the speech skills of LSPU students and help them get ahead in life. WED disclosed that ability to speak with confidence is a fundamental requisite for every individual who aims for bigger and better opportunities whether in the classroom or in the workplace. On the other hand, WED also articulated that one’s education makes him eligible to apply for a job, but in order to land a job, one has to possess a set of skills called Employability Skills which could only be acquired through proper training such as ESTP.

The attendees during the orientation program were Deans and Associate Deans from the four campuses of LSPU who expressed their high level of interest and enthusiasm to commence the training program. One Dean commented that partnership with WED is envisioned to give the 3rd and 4th year students the professional, academic, and social advantages afforded by proficiency in spoken English, hence, equal putting in job opportunities here and abroad. Meanwhile, the MoA signing for the partnership was signed on March 5, 2015 which transpired at 3/F Palacio Grande Building, Intramuros, Manila. Key Persons were Dr. Nestor M. de Vera, LSPU President, Mr. Hee Soo Kang, President and CEO, WorldWideLink Educational Development Inc., Dr. Mario C. Pasion, Dr. Roberto C. Miranda, Mr. Joshua Oliver F. Callueng, Dr. Florhaida V. Pamatmat, & other Senior Officials of WED, Philippines. The formal Opening of the program took place on March 13, 2015 at LSPU-Santa Cruz Main Campus attended by concerned LSPU and WED Senior Officials, LSPU Deans, Associate Deans together with the 3rd and 4th Year students.

Meanwhile, the faculty and students from the various colleges of LSPU are looking forward to the commencement of the EST and ESTP educational development training. It is with high hope that with the training program, LSPU graduates, junior sophomores, and freshmen students could cope with the challenges of the ASEAN integration.

This partnership with WED will open doors for the global competitiveness of the students and further develop them personally and professionally.

WED also offers free and comprehensive training of faculty and officials in the four campuses of the university which might take place on summer of 2015.

Dr. Nestor M. de Vera, University President, has been very supportive of programs and projects that may contribute to the academic well-being of the faculty, students, and personnel. (fvp/l subillaga)
