LSPU-SCC holds parents, students' orientation for AY 2024-2025

The Laguna State Polytechnic University-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC), through the initiatives of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and the Supreme Student Council (SSC), welcomed parents and new students from various colleges to the Orientation Program for Academic Year 2024-2025. 

The orientation took place at the Multi-Function Hall Gymnasium of LSPU-SCC from Aug. 28 to Sep. 9.

The orientation aimed to provide essential information to both students and parents as they begin a new academic journey at LSPU. 

Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvarez, Campus Director of LSPU-SCC, delivered a talk on free higher education and its benefits. He emphasized the university’s commitment to providing a holistic education that equips students for future challenges. 

Engr. Alvarez also took note of the importance of perseverance despite the academic challenges. 
“A failed grade is merely a challenge, not a measure of success; success is determined by one's perseverance in their chosen career," Engr. Alvarez said.

Dr. Christian P. San Luis, Chairperson of the Office of Student Affairs (OSAS), provided an overview of the university’s academic policies, student services, and support systems to ensure student success throughout their stay at LSPU.

A key topic on safety protocols were presented by Mr. Ronaldo Maglapuz, Director of the Security and Management Office (SMO), and Mr. Erwin Napiza, Director of the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (UDRRMO). They reassured parents and students that LSPU is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and employees.

Meanwhile, Dr. Reymond Coria, University Dentist, discussed the dental services available on campus, while Mr. Niño Lito Jake Briones, Guidance Counselor, introduced the various counseling services offered to support students’ mental and emotional well-being.

The orientation also featured introductions to various student organizations and extracurricular activities, encouraging students to engage in campus life. Among the organizations highlighted were The Gears Publication as well as sports and cultural activities.

Ms. Louis Lane Padua, Federated President of the LSPU Student Council, shared her experiences as a student leader and encouraged the new students to actively participate in campus life to enrich their university experience.

Members of the LSPU-SCC Administrative Council, deans and faculty from different colleges attended the Parents and Students' Orientation.
