Veering towards improving road safety, the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Siniloan Campus (LSPU-SC) initiated a consultation meeting with key government and private sectors at the University Board Room, May 14.
Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration and Campus Director for LSPU-SC, had a dialogue with Engr. Patrick Ellis Z. Go, Municipal Mayor of Siniloan, Laguna; PMAJ Fernildo R. De Castro, Chief of the Siniloan Philippine National Police (PNP); and representatives from the local traffic management and land transportation unit and Alpha Driving Academy.
This collaborative effort aimed at addressing the observed concerns on the lack of proper documentation and licenses among vehicle users and the series of unfortunate road incidents involving the youth and students.
From this community-wide partnership among the LSPU, local government unit (LGU), and law enforcement agencies came the strategies to increase the knowledge of students, staff, and employees of the University on road safety awareness, responsible driving, and legal document processing.
Alpha Driving Academy, a private driving agency, offered to provide free driving seminars among constituents of the LSPU and Siniloan Municipality, to make a tangible impact in reducing road accidents.
The LSPU, spearheaded by its Security Management Office and in collaboration with concerned offices, will be conducting surveys and other pertinent actions to generate baseline data for policy-making such as the number of vehicles owned by the students and employees, number of drivers with legal driving permits, and strategic areas to accommodate vehicles entering the campus premises, among others.
