Achieving academic resiliency through volunteerism and patriotism.
This captures the spirit of the Graduation Ceremony, Donning of Ranks, and Installation as Battalion Commander of School-Based Ready Reserve Units (SRRU) activities of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Sta Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC) held at the campus grounds, June 26.
The NSTP covers the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).
In his welcome remarks, Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvarez, Campus Director, highlighted the significant achievements of the CWTS and ROTC cadets in community service such as blood donation drives, disaster response initiatives, and environmental conservation projects.
He emphasized that the skills and values instilled through NSTP are crucial for the cadets as they transition into responsible and engaged citizens.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mario. R. Briones, University President, congratulated all the graduates of NSTP and emphasized in his keynote speech the value of resiliency.
“By definition, someone who is resilient is someone who is able to not only withstand extremely challenging situations but also recover quickly from them,” President Briones said.
According to the University President, the core values enshrined in the NSTP taught the students how to become more resilient, and how they can contribute in securing a sustainable future for every Filipino.
The ceremony included the integration of newly graduated ROTC members into the reserve force and the activation of the School-Based Ready Reserve Units (SRRU). This aspect highlights the practical application of the training received, preparing graduates to serve the nation both in times of peace and emergencies.
Dr. Jethro N. Austria, NSTP Director, thanked everyone who participated and celebrated the academic achievements of the NSTP graduates.
