Nine academic programs of the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Los Baños and Siniloan Campuses were evaluated by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc., (AACCUP) through a hybrid accreditation survey visit, May 27-29.
The three-day activity underscored the University’s commitment to educational advancement.
“The University goes through the accreditation process to ensure that we uphold a rigid set of academic standards of our services and quality operational requirements,” Atty. Rushid Jay S. Sancon, LSPU-LBC Campus Director, explained.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President, emphasized: “This is not for mere compliance, but rather is a manifestation of our fervent commitment to continuously improve the quality of our undergraduate and graduate programs, enabling us to produce competitive graduates. This is a manifestation of the university’s commitment to excellence.”
Further, Atty. Sancon added, “Part of the focus of the university is to continuously bring the quality of the different academic programs to another level…responsive and relative to the demands of our stakeholders.”
The LSPU-LBC programs evaluated were Bachelor of Elementary Education and Master of Arts in Education under Level IV Phase 2; and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology, Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, Bachelor of Science in Agri-fisheries and Business Management, and Bachelor of Science in Tourism under Level III Phase 2.
On the other hand, reviewed and assessed academic programs of the LSPU-Siniloan Campus include Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management under Level IV Phase 2, and Bachelor of Science in Office Management and Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture under Level III Phase 2.
As part of the opening program of the three-day accreditation, the AACCUP coordinators Dr. Alonzo L. Mortejo (Siniloan Campus) and Dr. Jaime M. Forbes (Los Baños Campus), both from Bataan Peninsula State University, discussed the areas where the campuses will be assessed including curriculum and instruction, extension and community involvement, faculty development, linkages and consortia, and library.
Present during the activity were the LSPU Local Task Force headed by their respective Deans and Associate Deans: Dr. Karen A. Manaig of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Dr. Carmela Jhoy M. Dy of the College of Food Nutrition and Dietetics (CFND), Ms. Precious Dee H. Tolentino of the College of Fisheries (COF), Dr. Charmine Rivera and Ms. Aprilyn E. Etorma of the College of Hospitality Management and Tourism (CHMT), Dr. Marc Sylvester Garcia of the College of Agriculture (CA), and Ms. Mary Grace Esmade of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA).
Also, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Eden C. Callo, Faculty Regent Chester Alexis C. Buama, Siniloan Campus Director Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Director for Quality Assurance Dr. Alberto D. Yazon, and Siniloan Campus Quality Assurance Chairperson Engr. Rommel Octavius R. Nuestro graced the activity.
A team of esteemed evaluators from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) conducted the accreditation. ###
