48th National Convention of PAGE Attended by University CTE Officials

The deans, associate deans, and graduate program coordinators of the LSPU- College of Teacher Education attended the 48th National Convention of the Philippine Association for Graduate Education (PAGE) held in La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel, Malay Aklan from February 24 to 27, 2015. The theme of the convention focused on “Quality Graduate Research as a Response to ASEAN 2015”. The convention objectives were: to provide venue for bringing together administrators, researchers, graduate students and partners in various industries and sectors to a forum of identifying frameworks for collaborative research; address issues relative to the conduct of institution-based and externally funded commissioned collaborative research; and to strengthen and intensify the conduct of collaborative research among higher education institutions.

Endorsed by CHED in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7722, or the Higher Education Act of 1994, the annual convention was pushed through successfully and attended by around 200 university officials and faculty from HEIs and state universities and colleges in the country.

The Keynote Speech was given by CHED Director IV DR. AMELIA A. BIGLETE, CESO III from the Office of Programs, Standards & Development (OPSD), while Plenary Talk 1 highlighted on the ASEAN 2015 in View of ASEAN 2020: Implications on Graduate Education” given by DR. FEDERICO M. MACARANAS, Core Faculty of Asian Institute of Management (AIM).

DR. JAIME M. BUZAR, Chair of PACUCOA discussed “Accreditation in the Light of ASEAN 2015” followed by the speech of DR. GENARO V. JAPOS, President of the International Association of Multidisciplinary Research which emphasized on the Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Research. Plenary Talk 5 was also discussed comprehensively by Dr. Japos entitled “Journal Publication: Challenges and Opportunities in the Light of ASEAN 2015.” (fvp)
