VPAA attends National Conference of Student Affairs Development and Services Practitioners

LSPU Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eden Callo with the Office of Student Affairs and Services Chairperson of Siniloan Campus,  Mr. Rodolfo Valdenarro, San Pablo City Campus  Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Analyn Delfino and the Director for International Affairs, Dr. Nimfa G. Dimaculangan participated with enthusiasm in the National Conference of Student Affairs Development and  Services Practitioners which took place at Hasmin  Hotel, Polytechnic University of the Philippines on July 30- August 1, 2018.

These LSPU delegates got heavier mental baggage after the conference and were humbled by the new knowledge obtained from the speakers. They went back home completely renewed in spirit by this three-day gathering of Vice-Presidents for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs Deans, Directors and Coordinators, International Affairs Officials, and Guidance counselors nationwide that offered interactive seminar-workshop sessions from 8:00 o’ clock in the morning to 5:00 o’ clock in the afternoon.

The seminar proper was started-off with the sharing of best practices relative to how Student Affairs Practitioners handle student discipline, and guidance and counselling. The       attendees manifested satisfaction revisiting the roles of Student Affairs and Services in Higher Education through the lively and comprehensive talk of DLSU Professor, Dr. Renato Jose Ma. Molano Jr.

Day two was equally content and task based learning with speakers from Far Eastern University, Partido State University, the Legal Counsel of Bicol University, CHED, and University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines on the topics: Understanding Millennial Students and Student leaders, Best Practices in Student Organizations, Activities, and Discipline, Issues, Opportunities and Challenges on present Student Affairs and Services, and Monitoring and Assessment Tools in SDS. The attendees were enlightened more during the parallel workshops after the talks. The SUCs Student Affairs and Services Association was organized on the second day, too.

The participants curiously listened attentively to the presentation of Atty. Carmelita Yadao-Sison of UNIFAST on the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Subsidy, and to the talk of Atty. Lily Freida Milla, the Director for International Affairs Services, CHED on International Student Mobility on the third day. The certificates of appreciation and attendance were distributed after the two equally interesting talks to signal the closure of the three-day program.
