Vietnam envoy to PH visits LSPU

His Excellency Dr. Lai Thai Binh, Vietnam Ambassador to the Philippines, visited the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC), May 17.

The Vietnam Ambassador paid respect and offered flowers at the Ho Chi Minh monument on campus, in celebration of the birthday of the former President of Vietnam on May 19.

As part of Philippine-Vietnam solidarity and camaraderie, the LSPU has established the Ho Chi Minh statues among its campuses, side-by-side with the statue of Dr. Jose Rizal, regarded as the national hero of the Philippines. The said statues were erected in commemoration of the Founding Anniversary of the Jose Rizal-Ho Chi Mihn Educational Cultural International Friendship Society (JR-HCM ECIFS) which was instituted by Dr. Ricardo Wagan, First LSPU President, at LSPU-Los Baños Campus (LSPU-LBC) on May 19, 2010.

On May 18, 2022, former Vietnam Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Hoang Huy Chung, also visited the campus to pay the same respect to said monument.

Ambassador Lai Thai Binh was accompanied by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, his spouse; Mr. Dinh Viet Hai, Second Secretary to the Embassy; and Mr. Dan Mang Cuong, Embassy Staff.

His Excellency and his companions were welcomed by the LSPU delegates headed by Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President; Vice Presidents; Campus Directors; local administrative officials; and faculty, staff, and students.

After their luncheon at the Function Hall of the Research and Development Building, the Vietnamese delegates experienced a taste of Filipino music and arts from the cultural song and dance performances of the Himig Kultura Choir of the College of Teacher Education MAPEH Cultural Organization and Sarit Kultura Dance Troupe, respectively.

The Vietnamese delegates also participated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the LSPU and Tan Trao University, a university in Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam, later in the afternoon.
