In the interest of education cooperation and the spirit of making significant contributions to international and intercultural education, the Tan Trao University (TTrU) in Tuyen Quang, Vietnam, and the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) in Laguna, Philippines, extended their academic cooperation.

The two higher education institutions made official their continued commitment with the conduct of a virtual ceremonial signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) via Zoom, May 17.

In his message, Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President of LSPU, expressed his optimism for the complete realization of the programs the two institutions had planned to engage in prior to the pandemic.

The TTrU and LSPU had previously inked a partnership with some areas of which being renewed and enhanced in the new MOU.

“With the renewal of this partnership, we are optimistic that the plans and programs we were expecting to implement but hindered by the limitations of the pandemic will finally come to realization,” Dr. Briones said.

For the next five years, TTrU and LSPU agreed to form and develop an educational and cultural collaborative understanding towards the pursuit of education ideals of students and faculty.

Specifically, this academic collaboration for graduate and undergraduate programs covers special course on Vietnamese language and culture, summer camp for Vietnamese students, intensive English language proficiency course, faculty exchange program, on-the-job training for Vietnamese students in some programs, short practicum courses, student exchange programs, co-authorship in research and publication, and participation in or co-organization of scientific conferences.

Signing the MOU as the representatives of their institutions were Dr. Mario R. Briones, University President of LSPU; and Dr. Pham Duy Hung, Vice President and Acting President of TTrU; with their respective officials as witnesses.

His Excellency Dr. Lai Thai Binh, Vietnam Ambassador to the Philippines, also took part as a witness of the said MOU signing. Ambassador Lai Thai Binh, together with other delegates from Vietnam, visited the LSPU the same day to offer flowers to the statue of Ho Chi Minh, former President of Vietnam, which was put up on campus.
