LSPU sets off for institutional accreditation

The road to quality education goes on.

Headed by the Quality Assurance (QA) office, the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) has started its initial preparations for Institutional Accreditation (IA) to be conducted in December this year.

The IA Executive Committee (Exec Com) and Technical Working Group (TWG) composed of senior officials, deans and associate deans, directors and chairpersons, and unit heads  convened to discuss relevant matters for the accreditation at the CHMT Function Hall, LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC), June 4.

The meeting went over the rationale for IA, composition of the Exec Com and TWG, compliance report, areas for documentation, supporting documents, and proposed timeline, among others.

The LSPU is the first State University and College (SUC) in the Calabarzon region to be awarded the IA status under Level 1 by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc., (AACCUP) in 2019, the validity of which is until December 15, 2024.

The nine areas for accreditation include Area 1: Governance and Management; Area 2: Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation; Area 3: Faculty and Staff; Area 4: Research; Area 5: Extension, Consultancy, and Linkages; Area 6: Support to Students; Area 7: Library; Area 8: Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources; and Area 9: Quality Assurance.

Engr. Manuel Luis Alvarez, Campus Director of LSPU-SCC, encouraged everyone’s participation in the IA, especially the new members of the TWG as unit heads of offices under the Revised Organizational Staffing Structure in SUCs (ROSSS).

As explained by Dr. Enrico Rivano, Chairperson for QA, an IA status SUC is authorized to conduct its own programs preliminary survey visit (PSV).

Dr. Alberto Yazon, Director for Quality Assurance, provided an overview of the IA processes.

After the meeting, the TWGs are set to conduct their respective meetings to prepare documents for the IA in December 2024.
