QUEZON, CITY—The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Inc., forwarded to the University the results of the Institutional Accreditation (IA) held on April 22-26.

After the institution’s three-month preparation for the IA of the Sta. Cruz Main Campus, the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) garnered a grand mean of 3.13 which is equivalent to Accreditation Level I.

In the history of Institutional Accreditation, LSPU had the shortest length of time in preparing for IA, wherein the former minimum length of time is one year or twelve months.

The IA level or accreditation status is yet to be awarded after the university’s compliance to the mandatory requirements not later than one year or twelve months after the survey visit.

The area that garnered the highest weighted mean is Area 8: Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources with 3.54, while lowest belongs to Area 1: Governance and Management with 2.98. The remaining areas among the nine areas surveyed gained a grade of 3.00 and above.

The recommendations to be complied with before awarding of accreditation status include: revisiting of the specific roles of University and College officials in the pursuit of collaborative Research and Development undertakings; inclusion of Research Ethics Review Committee in the en-banc Review Panel during proposal evaluation; institutionalization of a scheme to monitor on-going and completed researches through the conduct of an annual agency in-house research review; creation and operationalization of an IP office and Technology Business Incubators for commercialization of technologies; and restructuring of the Organizational Structure and the definition of functions and duties.

Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, Incumbent and Founding President of AACCUP, acted as the Team Consultant of the Institutional Survey Team.
