The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) is exploring partnership opportunities with the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC), a non-stock, non-profit tertiary healthcare institution.
Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration and Officer-in-Charge of the Office of Campus Director in LSPU-Siniloan Campus (LSPU-SC), conducted a dialogue with Mr. Kelly Sia, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CGHMC through a coordination meeting in Siniloan, Laguna, Feb 16.
During the courtesy visit to Hon. Patrick Ellis Z. Go, Mayor of Siniloan, Mr. Sia expressed the interest of his represented institution to partner with both the Local Government Unit of Siniloan (LGU-Siniloan) and LSPU in providing future medical programs, trainings, and services.
Introducing CGHMC, Mr. Sia shared the impressive performance of their College of Nursing for having a passing rate of 100% in the Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE) for the past 14 years.
Founded in 1891, CGHMC is owned and operated by the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association Inc. (PCCAI) and authorized to operate as a Level IV Tertiary Hospital by the Department of Health (DOH).
Among the highlights of their discussion were training programs for our nursing students and faculties to improve healthcare services in our country, assistance in developing an extensive partnership in the healthcare industry locally and internationally, acceptance of students under the on-the-job training (OJT) program with compensation and giving discounts to LSPU employees who will need medical services.
The visitors had the chance to learn more about the university by having a tour around the campus and by watching the LSPU promotional video.
“Advantage po sa amin as part ng education kung magkakaroon tayo ng collaboration,” stated Engr. Pedrigal in his message. “Katulad ng Sta. Cruz nando’n ang ating College of Nursing [and Allied Health]. We hope na magtuloy-tuloy ang ating agreement.”
On the part of LSPU, Engr. Pedrigal offered potential projects that CGHMC may explore with the university, especially in agriculture such as the existing mushroom and rabbit production on the campus.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sia also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome they received in the municipality of Siniloan. He shared information about their charity programs, newly constructed 17-storey hospitals, and advanced medical equipment integrating artificial intelligence (AI).
The CGHMC President also extended his invitation to the officials and personnel of LSPU and LGU-Siniloan to visit their hospital and college campus to see their state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
Ret. PNP Gen. Tom Lantion also expressed his gratitude and support for this potential partnership.
Also present in the said meeting were Dr. Marc Sylvester P. Garcia, Dean of the College of Agriculture; Ms. Dulce Biticon, University Nurse; Mr. Erwin A. Napiza, Director of the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (UDRRM); Mr. Robert Young, Board Member of Chinese General Hospital; Ret. PNP Gen. Tom Lantion; and other officials and personnel of LSPU and LGU-Siniloan.
