Fostering academe-industry partnership, the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Santa Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC) and IBIDEN Philippines, Inc., signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the “adopt-a-scholar” program, Sep. 26.
Held at the Student Services Building (SSB) Function Hall, the ceremony was attended by representatives of both organizations and ten scholars from the BS Chemistry program of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), accompanied by their guardians.
Dr. Enrico Rivano, CAS Associate Dean, expressed his gratitude for the partnership and emphasized the impact of such collaborations on the lives of students.
“Ito po ang simula ng mas marami pang magagandang bagay sa pagitan ng LSPU at IBIDEN para po sa ating minamahal na mag-aaral,” Dr. Rivano said.
Dr. Eden C. Callo, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), shared the importance of education in transforming lives and the crucial role that industry partners like IBIDEN play in uplifting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. She also encouraged the scholars to take full advantage of this opportunity, reminding them that their hard work and dedication will bring them closer to success.
Angelita Mercado, IBIDEN Senior Manager of Human Resources, shared their company’s excitement in working closely with LSPU-SCC through their adopt-a-scholar program. In her message, she emphasized IBIDEN's commitment to supporting education as part of their corporate social responsibility.
Meanwhile, Sharra Diohn Avila, Talent Acquisition Specialist and Mr. Kenneth Malaqui of IPI,, presented the IBIDEN profile, giving a glimpse of the company’s long-standing commitment to community engagement and innovation. They introduced IBIDEN’s values and vision, explaining why the partnership with LSPU-SCC is aligned with the company’s goals of empowering the next generation through education.
The scholars, their guardians, and university representatives also participated in a question-and-answer session, discussing not only the current scholarship program but also the potential for future partnerships between IBIDEN and LSPU across other academic disciplines.
The highlight of the event was the MOA signing proper which symbolized a shared commitment to nurture the scholars' potential, providing them with the necessary resources and support to excel in their studies.
Dr. Maria Rellie Kalacas, Scholarship and Financial Assistance (SFA) Chairperson of LSPU-SCC, concluded the event by extending her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in bringing the scholarship program to life.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision of empowering the next generation through education and making a beautiful impact on our society,” Dr. Kalacas said.
