Collab, innovation highlighted in CHMT Skills Competition 2024

The College of Hospitality Management and Tourism (CHMT) of the Laguna State Polytechnic University-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC) foregrounded the value of collaboration and innovation in the conduct of its annual Skills Competition at the Activity Center, May 30-June 1. 

With the theme, “Embracing Collaboration and Innovation: Unleashing Students’ Competence towards Rapid Evolution,” the conduct of the competitions embraced the joint efforts of students and faculty members as contestants and coaches, respectively. 

CHMT Dean Charmine V. Rivera expressed her delight for all the support the students received from the faculty members as their coaches. She noted how students are motivated to have the support, guidance, and trust of their teachers

Exhibiting key areas of hospitality and tourism, the participants competed in the following contests: quiz bee; cheerdance competition; dessert buffet set up; cooking show and demonstration sponsored by AquaStar of Seattle, WA; itinerary presentation; tour guiding and flight attendant demonstration; and cocktail mixing and flairtending sponsored by Evolve University Class. 

Dean Rivera commended everyone for their dedication and hard work for the conduct and roll out of the skills competition. She shared that for her, they are all winners, saying, “By accepting the challenges, they become true winners.”

Enticing eagerness, guest speakers Mr. Dennis Del Mar and Ms. Clarice Santos encouraged the students to participate more in this kind event to enhance and improve in their craft.

Engr. Manuel Luis R. Alvares, Campus Director of LSPU-SCC, and Mr. Christian P. San Luis, Chairperson of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services, graced the event with their words of encouragement. 

The following experts served as the judges of the skills competitions: Mr. Dennis Del Mar,  Ms. Clarice Santos, Mr. John Michael Aquino, Ms. Acelyn Delos Reyes, Dr. Kirk Manalo, Ms. Leilani Tajao, Mr. Christian Zotomayor, Mr. Neil Cabela, Ms. Jennalyn Banta, Mr. Joel Delos Santos, Mr. Jun Marcelo and Ms. Apple Bonifacio Delos Santos.
