Students of the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) dominated the Regional Farm Youth Day of the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) CALABARZON in Trece Martires City, Cavite, May 3.
Students of the LSPU-Siniloan Campus (LSPU-SC) and LSPU-Nagcarlan Satellite Campus (LSPU-NSC) won the following contests: Cherry Antoneth C. Azucena, Arianne B. Dorado, and Rachel Anne F. Moreno won first place in the 4-H Agri-innovation Pitching Contest, while Adrian M. Averion of the won the 3rd place for 4-H Songcon: Duet Song Writing and Singing Contest.
This year’s DA-ATI Farm Day bore the theme “RELIVE the 4-H Leaders in Valuable Agri-Fishery Engagements.”
According to Dr. Marc Sylvester P. Garcia, Dean of the College of Agriculture, they extensively examined the process of creating their primary output with the support of faculty members from the LSPU-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) and LSPU-Nagcarlan.
He also shared how the contests fostered creativity and environmental consciousness among the faculty and students.
“It motivated us to inspire other young individuals to observe their environment and explore how they can utilize agricultural resources for potential projects. Moreover, it encouraged them to foster innovation,” Dr. Garcia said.
The DA-ATI CALABARZON organized the said activity to showcase the participants’ talents and skills in various agriculture and agripreneurship-related contests and further develop their appreciation for agriculture.
The participants in this event are 4-H members of the CALABARZON region. The 4-H name represents four personal development areas of focus for the organization: head, heart, hands, and health. The goal of 4-H is to develop the citizenship, leadership, responsibility, and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach.
