LSPU eyes to keep 3-year PBB streak; names top performing campus, colleges

The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) aims to continue its three-year streak of being granted the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023.

Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration, shared this during the delivery of his welcome remarks for the two-day Annual Deliberation and Validation of 2023 Office Performance held at the HRM Function Hall, LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC), Jan. 25-26.

For this year’s validation, the LSPU-San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) ranked first among the four regular campuses of the university, marking its second year of claiming the position. LSPU-Siniloan Campus (LSPU-SC) and LSPU-Sta. Cruz Campus (LSPU-SCC) tied for the second place, followed by the LSPU-Los Baños Campus (LSPU-LBC).

Meanwhile, the College of Agriculture (CA) emerged as the top performing college for 2023, followed by the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) for the second place and the College of Nursing and Allied Health (CONAH) for the third place.

Headed by the Planning and Development Office (PDO) with the Management Information System, the event was attended by senior officials, directors, chairpersons, deans, associate deans, faculty presidents, other concerned officials and employees.

The deliberation and validation of office performance covered the areas of Quality and Relevance of Instruction, Research Capability and Output, Services to the Community, and Management of Resources.

Some of the insights raised during the event included the changes in the instrument that affected the validation results; research-related concerns such as book utilization by external stakeholders and international indexing of research outputs by identified indexing bodies; proposal for recalibration of targets in line with changing measures; and planning for the creation of new strategic plan.

The first day was composed of the delivery of inspirational message by Dr. Eden C. Callo, Vice President for Academic Affairs; presentation of the rationale and results of 2022 performance by Engr. Erick Francisco, Planning Officer II; review of the PBB instrument for 2023 by Mr. Charles Alfred Cruz, Information and Technology Officer I and former MIS Chairperson; and the deliberation, validation, and evaluation proper among the four campuses.

Meanwhile, the second day was comprised of the recapitulation of first day by Mrs. Ivory De Los Reyes, MIS Chairperson of LSPU-SCC; presentation of results per area; presentation of summary and ranking; cascading of 2024 performance target (per campus and college) by Engr. Neil James P. Noval, MIS Chairperson of LSU-SPCC; and statement of commitment of the vice presidents and college deans.

Mr. Loyd Echalar and Ms. Jonalyn Joy Labayne served as the master and lady of the ceremonies for the first and second day, respectively.
