LSPU Senior Officials craft Development Plan for 2019-2023

Dr. Mario R. Briones, the LSPU President convened the University Senior Officials for an information loaded two-day seminar workshop at Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Hotel and Restaurant, Bay, Laguna, Aug. 16-17, 2019. The group, spearheaded by the President, thereby crafted the LSPU five-year Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023.

 

On the first day of the academic meeting, Dr. Nestor M. De Vera gave the first talk and inspired his former constituents with his recount of the strengths and weaknesses of LSPU and an advice to revisit their accomplishments and targets. Mr. Adriel G. Roman, the Planning and Development OIC Director reported the status of the existing Strategic Development Plan, presented the rationale of the seminar as well as the procedures and activities for the two-day meeting; whereas, the participating officials, who were divided into three groups (i.e., Quality and Relevance Instruction group led by Dr. Eden C. Callo, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Research Development and Extension group led by Dr. Corazon N. San Agustin, Vice President for Research and Extension; and General Administration and  Support Services group led by Mr. Efren R. Dela Paz, former Vice President for Administration did the SWOT analysis and prepared strategic objectives which are anchored on the vision and mission statements of  the new President as well as on the SWOT results from the different  areas.

 

The 2nd day was equally a busy learning-working meeting with UP Manila College of Health Sciences Dr. Beng Mortel who discussed the interface between healthy environment and the act of promoting holistic services to the university’s stakeholders and the  process of  constructing quality and relevant plans and  targets. Dir. Banua linked the government’s Ambisyon 2040 to the development of LSPU strategic plan, discussed the importance of planning, the inclusion of significant projects like risk       reduction management, disaster and calamity related activities in the plans; and then shared some projects of NEDA Region IV. Relatively, Dr. Madrigal elucidated a comprehensive strategic planning framework and underscored the importance of core values as compass to achieving goals and vision. Likewise, he recommended improving targets in instruction, research, extension, and   production of the University.

 

The discussion was ended with the speakers and higher officials’ insights and responses to the problems raised by the participants. The four campus directors articulated their commitments before the groups and then posed with President  Briones for the closing part  photo opportunity. Having learned much from well-versed authorities in    strategic planning and management, the officials went home with vision for changes and motivation for better performance  (N. Dimaculangan).
