Laguna State Polytechnic University, through the University President, Dr. Nestor M. De Vera, is an active partner of the Embassy of the United States in the Philippines offering various Language Courses provided by top Universities from United States. The FREE American English Online Courses sponsored by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and are offered by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) under the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Manila, in the form of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The certificates from these FREE International courses are recognized worldwide and can be used for gaining Professional Regulation Commission’s CPD points.
The MOOC Camp – Laguna is facilitated by the LSPU Los Baños Campus Office of the International and Local Affairs, through its Chairperson, Ms. Glen P. Cortezano. There were 135 completers of the first course English for Media Literacy (January 7, 2019 – February 11, 2019) provided by University of Pennsylvania. The completers will receive an International certificate on their graduation day at the US Embassy.
The second course being offered currently is the Content-Based Instruction (February 18, 2019 – March 25, 2019). This five-week course is also offered by University of Pennsylvania. There are almost 130 enrollees of this course who come from the private and DepEd Schools in Los Baños, Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao, Calamba, Sta Cruz and San Pedro.
