SAN PABLO CITY CAMPUS—The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Ideation Design and Development (IDD) Laboratory conducted a Robotics Curriculum Design exposure to Senior High School (SHS) students taking up Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), March-May.

The 10-day program was headed by Dr. Edilberto Z. Andal, IDD Project Leader and Associate Dean of the College of Teacher Education, in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The program was intended to be an introductory experience for Robotics core concepts through crafted curriculum and project-based learning, providing an avenue to apply the principles of engineering.

The Robotics Curriculum Design seminar-workshop was comprised of pre-orientation of the participants; introduction to robotics and motors and sensors; electrical and electronics systems, and fundamentals of microcontroller; principles of programming; product assembly and design; interfacing, prototyping and testing; elimination stage by cluster/group; refinement of robots and preparation for the competition; and launching of IDD Lab robotics curriculum and robotics competition.

The event was participated not only by the SHS students of the university but also by students from outside the campus such as from Philippine Science High School.*
