A celebration of the birth of a new academic and cultural friendship between Laguna State   Polytechnic University and Keimyung University (KU) in Dalgubeol-daero, Daegu, South Korea transpired on June 2, 2018, 2:00 o’ clock in the afternoon at the Conference Room of Sta. Cruz Main Campus when Dr. Nestor M. de Vera, LSPU President, and Dr. Jin-Kyo Shin, Dean of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Business of Keimyung University inked the general Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will be in full force for a period of five (5) years and shall be renewed automatically for the same duration, however subject to availability of funds.

As accorded in the said MOU, subject to mutual consent, the area of cooperation includes any program offered at either University in which the two institutions believe the cooperation is feasible and desirable, and which would contribute to fostering and developing a mutually beneficial relationship between the two universities.

The very organized and formal yet festive MOU Signing Program was made more indelible by the short prayer provided by Asst. Prof. Leonor Dominguez, the community singing of Philippine and Korean National Anthems, the introduction of the guests and officials in    attendance to the affair by Miss Fatima Quiambao, and the mainstream discussion of the programs for collaboration by the expert in oral discourse, the President of World Wide Link Group of  Companies, Dr. Joy Clarita   Villapando. She identified  viable and achievable  programs such as: Exchange of Faculty Members, Exchange of  Students, Joint Research Activities, Participation in Seminars and Academic Meetings, Exchange of Academic Materials  and Other Information, Special Short-Term Academic    Programs, and Staff Development Projects.

Mr. Chong Pal Kim, President of Overseas Korean Traders Association (OKTA) and Chairman of WWL Group of Companies and FOSCON Ship Management Ltd. gave a short meaty message; whereas, Dr. Nestor M de Vera articulated his appreciation of Keimyung University’s move to collaborate with LSPU through Dr. Jin-Kyo Shin. He also verbalized his acknowledgment of Mr. Chong Pal Kim’s and Dr. Joy Clarita Villapando’s support in making the academic and cultural covenant between the two Universities possible. He toured the visitors in the four Campuses via his description of their internal and external qualities and finally expressed his positive  vision of the two Universities future in this partnership.
