Dr. de Vera Welcomes Ambassadors Tuan & Servigon

The LSPU Hon. President, Dr. Nestor M. de Vera with the top management and International and Local Affairs’ Chairs warmly welcomed two special distinguished visitors--H.E. Ly Quoc Tuan, Vietnam Ambassador to the Philippines and H.E. Noel Servigon, Philippine Ambassador in Vietnam on May 2, 2018. He gladly met the two ambassadors and had casual exchange of pleasantries with them over cups of tea and Filipino native snacks. The three officials of the land went down to offer wreath before Rizal and Ho Chi Mihn twin Monument which signifies the JOSE RIZAL-HOCHIMIN INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY (JR-HCM) conceptualized by LSPU in cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Embassy in the Philippines, on May 19, 2010. From the ground, they proceeded to the conference room where they continued the conversation/friendly meeting.

Dr. de Vera began the meeting by touring the visitors to LSPU campuses through the video presentation of LSPU in a Nutshell.  He presented the latest information about LSPU along with its accomplishments, making it an ISO Certified Performing University emphasizing that LSPU’s accredited degrees offer sundry of disciplines to undergraduate and graduate students, and that it offers efficient services to its stakeholders who manifest high level of satisfaction in return. He also described its strong mutual relation with eight renowned universities in Vietnam and answered the visitors’ queries about LSPU and its covenants with Vietnam Universities.

Ambassadors Tuan and Servigon who got impressed about LSPU’s performance and its strong partnership with Vietnam universities, expressed their appreciation not only of the warm accommodations extended to them but also of the University’s gesture of homage to the past heroes and leaders - Jose P. Rizal and Ho Chi Minh. Apart from the actual offering of flowers before their twin monument, Dr. de Vera had a PowerPoint presentation too, of the stone busts of the two heroes installed at the façade of each of the four campuses  for everyone to remember them and pay them perennial homage. The two Ambassadors followed up their earlier expressed interest to have this emblem of Philippines–Vietnam Educational and Cultural Friendship installed at the Thai Nguyen University (TNU) in Vietnam. Ambassador Tuan affirmed that they are supportive of the Friendship Society and that Vietnam Embassy is coordinating with TNU about the said installation of the busts.

It can be remembered that relations between the Philippines and Vietnam began centuries ago. Literature shows that inhabitants of both countries were already involved in maritime trade prior to the arrival of Europeans. History reflects that since the end of the Cold War, diplomacy between the two countries have warmed significantly. Likewise, Philippine Universities, LSPU among others have established full blast mutual relations with Vietnam universities as early as the year 2000. LSPU and Vietnam universities have been furthering their education, research, and training to develop students’ global skills and perspectives.

The meeting was punctuated with a lunch that extended the three men’s conversation on light matters. NGD
