Senator Cynthia A Villar addressed the LSPU community as the guest speaker of the 64th Foundation Anniversary at the LSPU Gymnasium.
University President Dr. Nestor de Vera introduced Villar, calling the legislator Pangunahing Tagapagtaguyod ng Agrikultura. Villar expressed her gratitude to the audience. She even quipped a birthday greeting to Agriculture Dean Lolita L. Beato.
She appreciated LSPU for its commitment to quality education, specifically to agriculture. “Ako po ay nagagalak dahil ‘di lang kayo nagtuturo ng quality education, kundi mayroon kayong extension (program,)” she said.
She added that farmers should convince their children to be farmers. “Kailangang makumbinsi natin ang ating mga kabataan na pumunta sa agrikultura,” the senator said. She stated that the LSPU community must join efforts in changing the youth’s mindsets to take entrepreneurship. Villar also showcased programs for farmers, as well as agriculture and vocational courses offered by TESDA.
The senator expressed her hopes toward the university before leaving for a Senate forum. “I hope the LSPU continue to produce graduates who will be techno- entrepreneurs and agri-entrepreneurs,” she concluded.
