LSPU Carry Out Community Gender Sensitivity Workshop in San Roque Victoria, Laguna

GAD is concerned with men and women and their specific roles, responsibilities, and the expectations of the society. The College of Business Management and Accountancy of LSPUSanta Cruz Main Campus hosted a sensitivity training workshop to Barangay San Roque, Victoria, Laguna on January 20, 2016 with the objective of orienting the Local Government Units (LGU’s) and the residents of several barangays in Victoria, Laguna.

Associate Professor Marilyn Pielago discussed on Sex and Gender and the importance of gender equality, followed by the discussion of Institutions that Influence Gender Role Socialization discussed by the Chairperson of Gad, A/Prof. Josephine Villamin. Her discussion also covers the role of men and women, socialization, masculine and feminine side, agents of gender socialization, and factors affecting gender and social media.

The next speaker was Dr. Evelyn Balaoro who discussed on the importance of division of labor between men and women and their role to children. The last discussion was about gender equity with the tagline “May maayos na pamayanan kung ang pagtingin sa atin ay pantay pantay”.
