Briones, Dean of the College of Engineering, Engr. Manuel Luis Alvarez, Office of Students Affairs Services, Chairperson Prof. Alberto Castillo, and Administrative Officer IV Ms. Annaliza De Roma with officials of DMMMSU witnessed the said MOU signing

The extension project entitled “APICULTURE: An Alternative Source of Income to Enhance the Livelihood of Women Farmers in Laguna” with its motto, “Building Skill, Creating Opportunities” was proposed by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office.

The said project is geared at (1) assessing the potentials of apiculture as an alternative source of income generation through survey and field trials, (2) developing innovative partnerships and sustainable organization for apiculture, (3) creating micro enterprises of qualified individuals and groups to generate more income and livelihood to alleviate poverty in the countryside, (4) assessing the structure or production cost, major constraints and opportunities of honey production, and (5) building a strong, diverse, healthy and viable business enterprise that can withstand economic and environmental downturns.

The main beneficiaries are the women communities of San Pablo City, Famy, Siniloan, Victoria, Sta. Maria and Lumban. These members will undergo a seminar-workshop in apiculture in order to have an alternative source of income so that they will not need to go to the city for employment. LLD
